We had a special bond-We loved each other like brothers!
When Your With Friends

Dont just say, I'll catch you later

Life is too short to not see Good Friends often!
"Doc"

Dear Jeff (Doc) Dentice

I received word from a UAW Member that Dennis has passed.
I was and still am in shock.
First let me say, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.
This is and will be for time to come, a most difficult path in your life.
My heart will hold you and the Veterans close, for Dennis gave so much of himself for the privilege of Freedom.
Thank you Doc for your website - I visit it often.
Your Tribute to Dennis is quite moving. It has helped console an aching heart.
I wanted so to attend the Memorial, yet my disability makes it difficult for long traveling.
I met Dennis at the Veteran's Conference, UAW Family Education Center, Black Lake.
My name is Benita, I worked as a bus driver.  I lost a brother-in-law in Vietnam, and my brother
passed from the effects of Vietnam, at the age of 40.  So yes, the Veterans Organization truly spirits my heart.
Although I am unable to attend the Memorial for Dennis, know my prayers are with
you all and remember Dennis' Spirit will never leave our hearts.
Doc I would love to honor Dennis.  If there is a Memorial set up, please pass
on the information, I truly would appreciate hearing from you.

Warmly and in Peace,
Benita

THANKS FROM TINY
I feel very honored having my tribute to my bro at the top of the site.
He was a very special bother to all of us in the VOAMC and of course
to al the Vets out there.  When I signed the guest book I was in tears
writing from the heart ... Only Moby would understand my words that
is why I wrote it to him.  Thanks "Doc" great job

Until our paths cross again.

Doc
My name is Gary Mattson I was good friends with Dennis when we lived in Kenosha.
We both worked at AMC/Chrysler until I was transfer to a parts depot in Ca. in 1989 after the assembly ended.
He was a groomsman in my wedding and knew him from Dons Bar and Chris's Bar.
I heard about his passing but not how, but would like to know a little more. I know you don't know
me from adam but I really didn't know the rest of his family that good.
So I don't what to bother them in their time of sorrow.

"Doc has called Gary and talked with him for a bit"

Doc,
We came upon you're web site.....
Thanks for your tribute to "Moby".
It was great to see how many people loved my old friend!
I should have never lost touch with such a good man!  Tears run as I write.
As a long time friend, I was shocked to see a memorial poster for Dennis Eternicka!
I have been out of Kenosha for some time.  I was sitting in a Gin Mill in Racine and saw a
poster with an American Flag on it.  I wandered over to see what it was about......
My knees buckled!  My friend, Dennis was not with us anymore........
Dennis and I were friends for way more than 20 years.....  We played on the same softball teams,
on the same pool teams, drank at the same bars (Don's - Kenosha), rode together,
laughed and cried together.........  I still can't believe it!
My wife and I got on the web just to try to find something out.....

Thank you again "Doc" for your great tribute to Dennis
and all that you do for the Vets of this country!

Your website is an inspiration to all that have served
and all those that love this country...........

God Bless You....  God Bless Dennis....
God Bless The United States of America!

Comments: I know I have already signed this guest book before. But would like to say
a few things about my experience in Black Lake at the National Veteran Conference.
As one sister Connie said something was missing....Yes it was Dennis. The day of his
accident all he talked about was Black Lake. He couldn't wait to see everyone and party.
Well for those who weren't there, we still carried on his party for Region 4, THANKS
TO MY GOOD FRIEND JIM WALLACE, I LOVE YOU! I am glad everyone enjoyed the
pictures I put together of Dennis. Also THANKS to Laura Slayton, you did a great job
on your speech. You surprised me and Jim!! I gave the book to Ramon to take back to
Kenosha, Dennis's home town. To April, THANKS for the drinks, Dan and I were close
to Dennis, we had spent six different occasions together with him since the begining
of the year. It was great talking to you and glad I got to know you.
And to DOC, LOVE YOU TOO!! You have done wonders in bringing all of us together.
MISS YA DENNIS!! Love Julie

important thing he taught me was; "Follow your heart, RELAX, and enjoy the ride".

Comments: When I first met Dennis at Black Lake a few years ago his Harley Biker look
intimidated me, but as soon as he smiled that sweet Dennis smile his eyes had that twinkle
and his whole face lit up. The intimidation was soon gone.
The Veterans left Black Lake today, Sept.24th and this week was not the same as all the
others. Something was missing. Jimmy and I talked about this and it wasn't something missing,
it was someone, It was Dennis. This man could light up a room when he walked into it and
I miss him, we all did this week. Just one example of how thoughtful and caring he was.
Last year when I was tending bar at Mazeys the Veterans were raffling a plaque and I wanted
to win it so bad. It was beautiful. Needless to say, I didn't win. About a week after Dennis
left Black Lake I recieved a package in the mail. He sent me "The Plaque" with a little note
that read, "You wanted this so MOBY got it." I will cherish that plaque forever. This man had
a heart of Gold and whether he would admit it or not, everyone that
knew him seen that side of him.
I am so sorry for the family's loss, but they can take great pride in knowing they
had this one of a kind man to call their own.

He never talked about anyone disparingly. He looked for the good in all people. I
learned alot from this man, this man of character. God Bless Him. We all have somebody
to emulate. God Bless you Dennis. You've touched my life and the

Comments: There are no words to describe the enormous loss felt by his passing.
Dennis was truly one of a kind. It has been nearly 2 years since he sent me on to
"bigger and better things" with the FBI but I'll always have kind thoughts of my time
at Chrysler. Dennis made it a ritual to visit the Security Office every day. I was his
little "Buddy" and we always had many laughs before he'd go on to union business.
We also had a good time arguing/debating. That too ended with him laughing
(didn't he know a guy can never win an argument with a girl who's always right?).
Dennis especially hung around the office on Fridays because he knew
I always baked treats and he couldn't wait to dig in!
I have a photograph I took of Dennis on my last day at Chrysler. I just knew I would
miss him (he was always one of my favorites). I do and I always will.
Stay cool Dennis! Always your "Buddy," Dana De Pooter

Comments: Dennis was one of the guys that I only got to see during the Black Lake Veterans
Conference. I always enjoyed his warm humor and big laugh. His brotherly hugs were
genuine and welcoming. Dennis's e-mails told me he was bringing his bike up to Black
Lake and was looking forward to the Wednesday ride. This year Wednesday's ride will be in his honor and rememberence.

I will miss and regret that I did not have the oppertunity to get to know Dennis more
on a personal and professional level. I understand from his brothers that he really gave
the company hell and was very determined visionist with the of running the Region 4
Veterans Council. I was really looking forward his council and conversation about our new Region 8 Veterans Council.

It warmed me to view the Dreambook, and gave me an idea of how involved and caring
Dennis was. I see by the pictures Dennis and comments he was loved
by many and left behind many great memories.

At Black Lake, his spirit will be with us. Many stories will be
told and many shots taken. I look forward to seeing you all.

God Bless and for those who do,
RIDE SAFE...see ya there...

He always had a good time at Winterfest and helped at the auction by providing donations.
I remember last year he purchased one of the items - an eagle with the American flag.
He gave that item to Judy because he heard her say that she liked it. That's just the way

Comments: I'm a firm believer that God puts angels on earth to help us learn how to help
others and to teach us how to live life to the fullest. Dennis was one these angels. Some
may laugh at the thought of Dennis being an angel. However, one definition of angel is an
inspiration from God. And Dennis definitely inspired us. He gave us the inspiration to do
as much as we could for our Veterans, and then to push ourselves to better our efforts every
chance we got. He gave us humor and laughter and taught us that it is okay to laugh at ourselves.
He led by example, not just in words but by his actions also. Those whose lives he touched will
not forget him. The world has lost a great man and Veterans everywhere have lost a great advocate.
But his memory will live on in those of us who continue to work for our Veterans. Rest in
peace Dennis, you have earned that right. And welcome home Brother.

Comments: Dennis........Back in 1982 I lost my wife and son to a drunk driver-I withdrew-
On Oct 23rd of '83 terrorists killed my marine brothers in Beruit-I withdrew even more.
Grin, bare it, move on...I remarried, had 2 beautiful little girls...mom left when Angie was
3 months old. With noone to help, no programs to aid single custodial Fathers (in'89), I lost
my job,my home...I lost all but a '72 Ford pickup truck. That was our home for the next two
years. I sketched people for money or food---Noone would help us and whatever was left of my
pride wouldn't let them anyway.I was a boy when we came here.I knew there was opportunity,
problem was, I didn't care. The only one's that ever reached out to this guy that wouldn't reach
back were some vets at a local stand-down. Band of Brothers man...those that go on when others
fall. It gave me a sense of hope. I was hired at TCAP in the cafeteria. A few years later,I was on
the line. Rod Hayworth was looking for a t-shirt design-I remembered the heroism of those that
fell in my place and the compassion of those still standing.I made a design...it was a hit at the
conference as well as at home.I had told Jim Eagle "I just want to give back"--He told me Dennis,
that you wanted to meet me--I was pretty withdrawn--Eventually, I accepted and went to my 1st
conference. Your easy mannerism, your sense of humor..you made me feel at ease. I could trust you
Dennis. So much so that I began bringing my most prized possessions...my daughters to the
conferences. A lifetime of pain took me far away Dennis,Slowly you allowed me to open up. To
release the pains I held so long. As an artist I cannot help but draw upon all that inspires me.
Until this writing, I had never been able to openly share any of this....Thanks to you and your
patient ways, I can and now have. Dennis, you were and are an inspiration to me, to mine,
and to all that know you. You will be sincerely missed, and fondly remembered as you join old
friends at the pearly gates---listen as they speak the words denied so many
of your generation---Listen as they say;
"WELCOME HOME BROTHER,WELCOME HOME"---Epp

Comments: Thoughts!!
We all sit and think sometimes, just what was i put hear on earth for. With our great fallen
leader we dont have to wonder,He lead the local and suported the union brothers and sisters
during a time when down sizing and outsorsing was the norm yet was able to stand tall in
showing the way,He always put the union first which you must if not for the union the veterans
committees would not be here.He was very involved with the veterans,POW'S,MIA'S leading
by example taking time to talk and explain to those who had questions about the union or
with the veterans in working with either he took no prisnors, always going that extra
mile in order to get the job at hand done.
This is for the person who will take his place,We have heard it said he leaves behind a big set of
shoes to fill,Dennis would never want you to try to fill his shoes,he has shown us the way if we
listen and watched when he was teaching us.He would want you to leave your own foot prints
in the sand.I have said many times in order to be a great leader you must believe in your heart
what you are doing.Dennis was a true beliver, first in the union then in the Veterans he never
confused one from the other.Brother Dennis you are loved and will be missed.
